Hinrich Pulls Out…Eases The Pain
August 14, 2007

Apparently Kirk Hinrich pulled out of the running to make the USA basketball team due to personal reasons. If you really think that it was due to “personal reasons” you better think twice. If you look at who Kirk was competing against, the only personal reasons I would having to withdraw would be a lack of confidence. Do you think this guy has ever been cut from a team before? Of course not! He’s an amazing point guard, but he’s sure not as valuable on a team that offers the likes of Chauncey Billups and Jason Kidd. In fact, I would even rather Deron Williams than Hinrich any day. So instead of killing his own confidence and self-esteem, why not pull out…for personal reasons.
If Reggie Comes Back, He’s Coming back BIG!
August 12, 2007

I can’t seem to get it off my mind. Everytime I read a Reggie Miller article about his return, it always talks about how he’ll only play 15-20 minutes per game. Now, if you saw Reggie before he retired, he was still in game shape, and was willing to play more minutes almost every game, before he was inevitably taken out by coach Rick Carlisle. I feel this is a main factor for Reggie. Does he want to come back and ruin is career averages in points, minutes…everything! The way I see it, is he won’t drastically ruin anything. He will start his comeback by coming off the bench for the advertised 15 minutes. As the games go on, Doc Rivers will realize that Reggie still has gas left, and even though its only regular compared to the old premium kind, it is still better than what the rest of the bench will be offering. Pending Reggie’s body, I see him playing between 20 and 30 minutes a game. He’s more than capable of doing so, and provides yet another shooter who will scare defenses to no extent.
Moral of the story: Reggie will be back, and he’ll be back in a big way.

Penny, Miller, Houston…Who’s Next? MJ?!?!?!
August 10, 2007
My man Marc Stein over at ESPN recently broke down the oldies who are flirting with comebacks. He brings up a couple of new names that might be next on the list of comeback announcers. Some notables include Sprewell, Charles Oakley, and….MJ? You gotta check it out!
The most ideal guy would be Charles Oakley. If he’s in game shape, he’s perfect for scrapping for boards, and he was always a great shooter from 15-17 feet. The main reason I’d get him would be for leadership! A team like Dallas should be on their hands and knees begging this guy for his business. I’m sure Marc Cuban could think of a good dollar figure for the grampa.
The Return of Lil’ Penny!
August 10, 2007

I’m praying for it, and I know you are too. Back in the days when Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway was dominating the league with the Orlando Magic, alongside Shaq Diesel, Penny came out with a series of commercials featuring a “mini-me” named Lil’ Penny. At the time, these commercials were hilarious! They were the first good NBA player commercials in my books. And this brings us to today. Most of us have forgotten about Penny, due to him suffering from injuries over the years. But this could be the comeback of the century! Penny signed with the Miami Heat today. Okay, it won’t be anywhere near the comeback of the century, but Penny could provide a decent scorer off the bench. I’d take him over Antoine Walker any day. Penny signing with the Heat seems appropriate with all the oldies rumoured to make a comeback (ie: Allan Houston and Reggie Miller). I put him in the same category seeing as how he’s barely played in the past couple years. But I feel Penny still has something to prove. I think he still has some game left, and could show it if given the opportunity. I hope the Heat give him some minutes and by mid-season we will be seeing more Lil’ Penny!
Dalembert a Canadian! Next Task…Olympic Gold!
August 8, 2007

Alright, so now the Canadian national team will include Dalembert, Rick Fox, Nash, Leo Rautins and Me. Okay, all is a lie. Firstly, Rautins is the Olympic team head coach. Seconly, what ever happened to Rick Fox? I remember him having a crazy good season with Boston and then kinda just hopped on the Laker boat to the championships. I never made it past junior high school ball, and Steve Nash will just never play for team Canada anymore. But now Dalembert. This part is true! After just receiving his Canadian citizenship (formerly from Haiti), Dalembert has declared that he wants to play for Team Canada. This is phenomenal news for the team and the country. There is now another basketball figure to look up to for all the younger aspiring ball players. Before, it was just Nash, and Nash is an excellent example of a great Canadian role model. The way I see Dalembert is that he can be a great role model for all ball players too, but more so for the big guys. He is starting to prove himself in the 76ers (weak) lineup. Just like Kobe, its time to start putting some legitimate pieces around Dalembert and bring the gold home!
O’Neal to Lakers Would Make Kobe Happy
August 7, 2007

It sounds like it’s getting close! Jermaine O’Neal might be a Laker sooner than later. The prospective trade would involve Lamar Odem and Andrew Bynum for O’Neal. This would be a great trade for the Lakers, and for Kobe Bryant. KB would finally have an inside presence to take some pressure off him (since Shaq Diesel of course). O’Neal also provides a great 15 foot jump shot touch, which spreads out the defense. I could see him knocking down that shot all season, after KB drives and dishes to him over and over again. The big risk is O’Neals repetitive injuries. To me, this is irrelevant, because Odem is the same way. Inevitably, they’re both going to miss some games due to bad knees. As for Bynum, he has shown flashes of being a good player, but he’s just potential for now. He still has a couple years before he becomes a primary option in an offense. The Lakers NEED to make this move if they want to keep Kobe. Otherwise, it’d be interesting to see Kobe and Jermaine O’Neal rendezvous to another team together. Think it’s possible?????
Can’t Ever Get Enough Gilbert Arenas
August 6, 2007
Alright, I think I’m hooked! I can’t stop watching his highlights. I’ve even started looking for his jersey, but his Wildcats jersey! Any recommendations?
Anyways, after all my GA thoughts, I always remember his Impossible is Nothing commercial, for Adidas. They should really go with this concept. Mark my words, when this guy is retired, and waiting to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, this commercial will be re-broadcasted over and over again….and I can’t wait for it!
Check it out!
